Your New Zealand home for Iyengar yoga
What is IYNZ?
Iyengar Yoga New Zealand (IYNZ) is a vibrant, energised and welcoming community, dedicated to sharing the yoga of BKS Iyengar in Aotearoa.
It was established in 1993 to bring together local teachers and students of Iyengar yoga and is part of a global community of Iyengar yoga associations from Arizona to Zurich, that aim to connect and support Iyengar yoga students and teachers with practice, philosophy, training and mentorship.
IYNZ is governed by its Board, supported by its Committees, and is a registered company that complies with New Zealand Law.
IYNZ is the official liaison of the Iyengar family at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, and we regularly host teachers from Pune at national conferences and workshops.
Our Mission
Our mission is to promote the teachings of BKS Iyengar in New Zealand and internationally, establish and maintain comprehensive guidelines for certification; conduct regular assessments; provide social, cultural and educational services for our members; uphold rigorous ethical standards, and protect and oversee the use of the Iyengar brand throughout the community.
