In the Iyengar system there are five teaching certificates which have several progressive levels.  For more information – The Iyengar System.

At various higher levels teachers can teach pregnancy classes, remedial/therapeutic yoga, teacher train and assess at teacher assessments.  These standards have been set down by Mr. BKS Iyengar and are recognized worldwide.

If you are new to Iyengar Yoga then an Introductory level teacher is suitable.  It is not recommended that students who are pregnant begin yoga classes.  However, a teacher of Intermediate Level 2 qualification or higher , who has had suitable professional development training may be approached by those who are pregnant or suffering from injury or a medical condition to begin yoga.

All teachers listed have passed rigorous worldwide, standardised assessment and are required to maintain their certificates by renewing their Certification Mark license each year with ongoing training and education, practice and commitment to the Iyengar method.

An Iyengar teaching certificate is valid world wide and a teacher can be recognised as being qualified to teach Iyengar Yoga if they display the Iyengar Certification Mark.
