Meet Mechthild Laufkotter

I migrated from Germany to New Zealand in1982. My yoga journey started in 1984, I am very grateful that Iyengar yoga was offered in my small town Motueka. I was mostly a mother of 3 boys over the next 10 years but always came back to this style. I started teaching approximately 25 years ago. I went for my certification Introductory level 1 in 2011 and level 2 in 2013.
I am very passionate about my own practice, passing on what I have learned on my journey so far and making a difference in someone else’s life.

My husband and I live self sufficient on a 25ha block. I feel honoured to be the kaitiaki of this land. Yoga brings a beautiful balance into this busy life and it certainly helps to keep me fit.
We have two sons in Nelson with 4 grandchildren.
I feel that it is even more important now to keep up my yoga practice and believe that it will give me a solid and strong basis to grow older from
