Seeing & Understanding from the Base

In the fifth workshop in the series An Experiential Approach to Yoga Therapy Education, Stephanie will be focusing on the region of apana vayu — the foundational energy that supports grounding, stability, and release.

This immersive workshop explores the apana vayu which encompases the digestive, eliminatory, organic, and immune systems, and how working skillfully in this region can support the release of toxins, emotions, and old patterns, creating space for steadiness and renewal.
Through embodied practice, observation, and inquiry, participants are invited to deepen their understanding of how working from the base can bring clarity, resilience, and support to both personal practice and therapeutic application.

These workshops are stand-alone — you are welcome to attend this episode independently of the others.

Workshop in Christchurch

This workshop of Stephanie Quirk’s is  “Seeing and Understanding from the Base – part 3“.  It is the 3rd in a series of workshops which she has been running in Christchurch for  teachers, trainees and experienced students of Iyengar yoga.  The purpose is  to learn yoga therapy as it is applied to those who need help and are facing difficulty in their practices.
There are many obstacles on the path of yoga and how we face and overcome our own and our student’s challenges is the largest part of its practice and teaching. Those obstacles and limitations provide us with the most learning.
The “Base” is our practice, seeing and understanding is what we will be doing over the 4 days. An important part of the course is that the participant has experienced the work, the changes, and the adaptations. It is not a theoretical subject, although there is opportunity for questions as well as interaction and sharing of experience as we make our way through the work each day.
Each subject can be taken on its own, it is not necessary to have attended a previous part or subject. In all there are 7 parts. The whole series begins at the outer seeable measurable physical body and part by part we enter deeper into the unseen and immeasurable embodiment.

Welcome to Christchurch East Yoga, a purpose built yoga studio situated just 50 metres from New Brighton beach.
Our studio welcomes students of all levels and offers an unique experience with our team of Iyengar yoga teachers, each operating independently and offering their own classes and prices.
Our team of certified Iyengar Yoga teachers includes, Frances de Haas, Colleen Adamson, Julie Forman and Kate Deans.
Each teacher brings their own experience and expertise to the studio, enabling students to choose from a range of classes and approaches to Iyengar yoga.
In addition to our Iyengar Yoga teachers, our studio also houses a Stress Release Physiotherapist, Fiona Young.
We believe that these additional offerings provide a well-rounded approach to health and well-being that compliments the practice of yoga.
